This is a compact museum with indoor and outdoor exhibits about the powder mills belonging to the DuPont family. You can view the family's home as well as the mills on the Brandywine River. It cost us $14 per person and we made a day of it. If you like history, don't miss it.

While we enjoyed the tour of the historic home as well, my family of engineers (and engineers-in-training) much preferred the technical side of this site. I toured with an 11 year old, 7 year old, and 12 month old. We spent the entire day there and just barely got to see it all. The museum at the start was wonderful.... More

I traveled here with small expectations after a visit to the Brandywine Wyeth museum required less time than I anticipated. What a delightful surprise to happen on to interesting history, a charming property, a quirky but informative museum and a staff that obviously has a passion for sharing and educating. Mr. Dupont's ancestral home and office will take you back... More

If you have a Garden Pass or Trail pass, you will save some money if you will be visiting other attractions in the area. Find out how to obtain these passes from their website. A beautiful and informative place. The Museum has so much to see and do from touring the DuPont home to learning about the making of gunpowder to seeing where the workers lived. There is a bus that takes you to the mansion where you are met by a guide who takes you through the gardens, house, and the first office.... More

The grounds of the Hagley Museum are quite beautiful, and the employees cheery, and informative. The duPont history, which is ultimately quite dramatic, is well explained by the excellent guide during the house tour. There is much to see here and wasn't really crowded on a nice, sunny Saturday. I suppose some might not be interested in the early American... More

Went for an afternoon stroll thru the grounds. Was a lot of fun, nice scenery and areas to learn more about the early DuPont days. Our tour guide for the mansion was terrific and made that part of our visit excellent. Went a little late in the day to visit all the demos and houses as they closed at 4:30

Take your bike and ride up along the Brandywine Creek visiting the DuPont gunpowder history exhibits. It was very interesting. This is a must see if you are a chemist or engineer.

The Hagley museum is a wonderful place to go if you have children who are over 9 years old or so, or if you are with an adult only crowd... My mistake was trying to visit with toddlers. In order to access the home and garden tour, you have to take a short bus ride to the main exhibit., participate... More

We had been told about this "absolutely great" museum so when the opportunity presented itself one cold and windy February day, we went there. It was well worth it! Not only was this a lesson in history, but also taught us a lot about our times. So now, we know where many of the products we use come from and... More
