It's the sound so I don't expect much but this place could use a little sprucing up. Beach and amenities need improvement. New play ground, but the mini golf needs to get up and running.

Short Beach is such a peaceful place to be. I always bring my Canadian visitors here for a stroll along the beach even in November. There are restaurants close by for take out or eat in with a view of the beach.

Where can you go in a city to play tennis, walk the beach, play 3 par hole golf , eat a burger, play volley ball, and collect Seashells? Short Beach. Just down the road from the BDR airport. Can't miss it next year. Great for fall time too!

Very nice little beach. No crazy waves like on the ocean, nice concession stand, and never seen it crowded. Playground, skate park, and a green park right there.

It's a nice destination for a bike ride, and a nice beach, but not compelling. Getting there is interesting, since the route to the east takes you by surprisingly historic, if disused, military facilities (Grumman navy planes from WWII were made, and Desert Storm tank engines rebuilt, at the large buildings on the left approaching the beach)

Good sized beach. Open until midnight so you can catch some rays or play a game of nighttime volleyball on one of the several sand courts provided. Until 6pm there is a small entrance fee for non-residence. During day also Snack bar & bathrooms available in a centralized location so no big hikes to the bathroom, a plus if your... More
