The lake is touted as beautiful and fun. It is pretty and small and unusable mostly. The boat rentals are outrageous and not very much fun, The campsites are without trees or privacy and the bathrooms are inadequate. Mostly though, you cannot go anywhere on the lake that you cant see the entire rest of the lake. The drive is... More

Beautiful park, convenient access to Steamboat Springs. Great place to snowshoe, cross country ski and hike.

Hello! I'm so glad that you enjoyed the park in winter! Steamboat Lake is extremely popular in summer but we have some great winter recreation opportunities. I'm glad you found us! More

We rented a snowmobile to ride at Steamboat Lake State Park. The cost was reasonable $155 for 4 hours for a 2 seater. This was one of the highlights of our trip.

We checked it out, if you are a fisherman it is for you. We went for a picnic, off season for that. If you want to go during the summer and late spring it would be nicer. The visitor center is interesting.

Camped there in September 2012. Want to go back again and again and also try the cabins. We were late for the swimming but the fishing was fantastic. Truly wonderful experience.

Visiting Steamboat for a weekend getaway, just my husband and I, and read about this park. We have a State Park Pass, and the weather was rainy and dreary, so we thought 'Why not?" GORGEOUS drive to get out there! The drive alone was worth it. We are avid amateur photographers, so we love going anywhere with scenery. Took a... More

About half hour uphill winding scenic road from Steamboat for boat rental, picnics and trails; Very Beautiful ..visit the ranger station for info on the area.on the way be sure to stop at the "clark store" for ice cream and an old fashioned general store...a local fixture. Go with a full tank of gas.

Steamboat Lake looks very low, due to the lack of snow and rain. What's there is still beautiful, pristine, and untouched by the modern world. There's camping nearby, and a boat launch, although the lake looks so low I don't know that I'd try to put a boat in it. The view of the mountains, especially Hahn's Peak, is amazing... More

A nice lake in a pretty area. The marina is nice. The boat rentals here were pretty expensive, so we fished from the shore. There are limited picnic areas with any kind of shade at all, if we were to go back, we would definitely bring an awning.

Took the Steamboat Lake 1.1 mile nature trail. Great views of the lake, but so many trees have been cut down due to the pine beetles that the trail is rather bleak and messy. Didn't try other trails.
