Just to see the people climbing is such fun and it's a beautiful place to enjoy the outdoors. Be sure to be properly dressed, as it is cool with all the ice.

It was anew experience to see ice climbers. We talked to a number of the climbers and many were from other parts of the USA. It was fun to watch them climb up the ice and then head back down. The frozen ice falls were pretty to look at, with a blue hue to them.

Wanted to watch the ice climbers where we could easily see without wading through ice & snow ourselves. Very hard. If you're climbing it looked great.

We took a two day Intro to Ice Climbing class here and had a simply awesome experience. The park is very well managed and the "ice farmers" (new term for us) create an entire canyon of ice. It is worth seeing even if you don't ice climb. We went with San Juan Mountain Guides. They did a great job and... More

Having never done this sport but having it high on my bucket list, I went for it and booked an ice climbing trip. Knowing this was THE place to do it, I had no idea what I was getting into. I booked my trip with Mountain Madness and crossed my fingers it would all turn out well. The guide met... More

Wonderful, just to watch. At 50 years old, I didn't feel that it would be in my best interest..or anyone else's, to climb the ice. It was extremely enjoyable watching them climb the wall.

I've seen and climbed at a number of "ice parks" throughout the West. Ouray is still the best and biggest by far. Don't like crowds?---go in the middle of the week. Love gear tents, music and slide shows?--- go during Ice Festival (early January annually).

Everything about the Ice Park is wonderful. It is free and operates on donations. People come from all over the world to ice climb at the Ice Park.

The park is a narrow canyon with irrigation pipe to spray water down the rock walls to create ice climbing heaven. The park has dozens of excellent routes with generally good conditions and easy access for toproping, just a few minutes walk from town. It can be crowded on weekends, so get there early to get your rope set up.... More

I've been going here 3-4x a winter for the past 8 years that I lived in Colorado. I'm an ice climber and there is nothing like it for the ease of access, abundance of routes and safety. I do have to say though that the park has become a lot more crowded over the years and it can get a... More
