Took the cog railway up and that was interesting and safe. The highway has no guardrails and parts were snowy. While the views are spectacular, it was completely clouded over at the top. We have benin to many parts of the Rockies and while this is nice, there are more spectacular sites North. However, the history of Pikes Peak is...

We took the cog train to the summit. Beautiful scenery and what an experience. So glad we did it. Make sure you take water with you as you will be lightheaded once you reach the summit. So worth trip
We rode the Cog Railway from Manitou Springs to the top of Pikes Peak. Beautiful scenery and views. Very relaxing 1 1/2 hour trip up mountain and learned lots of history and facts from our guide. Highly recommend this trip!
Breathtaking (literally...oxygen levels half of normal elevation!) scenery, went mid-April and could only drive to MM13 due to weather conditions at the top. Stopped at gift shop at that point and took in the sights. Got a bit lightheaded and winded just walking from car to shop, either from altitude sickness or the fact that it was almost 0-5 degrees...

Beware: the oxygen is then so you're a little disoriented up there. It's a nice shop and fun spot to check out the views if the weather is cooperative. They have "Top of the World Donuts," and they're very tasty and warm. Bring a jacket though. It was 36 degrees at the top and it was almost July.
We loved the Town of Manitou Springs - great little shops, people are friendly We would have liked to stay longer - we stopped for a couple hours on our way to the airport. So many little shops - we didnt have enough time. Worth staying a couple days.
the views are incredible, but take a jacket in the middle of the summer - it gets cold up there! Also, afternoons in the summer can have storms, so best in the morning for views.
If going to the top of a mtn over 14,000 ft where Katharine Lee Bates wrote "America the Beautiful" sounds exciting to you, do not miss this adventure when near Co. Springs. You can drive, hike, run, race or take the cogwheel train to the top. The views are magnificent. The history of this mountain is very interesting to the...

If you are interested in seeing beautiful trees and a stunning vista, Pikes Peak is for you! The drive up the mountain took about an hour, as the road is narrow and very twisty-turny. Once up top, you have the chance to see from a variety of vantage points.
There is a cable tram up to the top, but we...
