Due to storms in past years, the pathway to the beach if difficult to navigate. California state parks have taken a hit with state budget cuts, but the weather this year has been glorious and the coast is the best place to fly kites and picnic on these mild days. The drive along Hwy 1 is worth a leisurely couple... More

Taking the drive from Russian River area down the coast is such a beautiful way to spend the day. Stop off at the many beaches. Bring a picnic lunch or head down to the quaint town of Bodega Bay a dine at any of the restaurants. You will be so relaxed at the end of your day.

We went to the beach to let our children play, and when we got there, the sign says its one of the states most dangerous beaches. My friend took the children to dip their feet, and even a shallow wave is going so fast it knocked our 4 year olds off their feet. The view is beautiful, but not a... More

One of our favorite day trips is to go to Bodega Bay area and have a bite to eat at the coast. Breathtaking views and a real break from traffic make this a wonderful place to visit, One day in September we took a relative to the coast. We were eating our lunch and she said, "I think a whale... one of our favorites, also the second (don't know the first) dangerous beach in california. It really is a beach you would not want to swim in, hard breaking waves at the shore, but also makes it so beautiful! There are camping sites surrounded by trees yet the beach is only a few dozen feet away. Good bathroom, camp host... More

The drive north of Jenner along the Sonoma coast is nothing short of spectacular! Harbor seals sun themselves at Goat Rock where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean.

Amazing views. Made it at sunset--extremely beautiful. Was nicely surprised by a large herd of deer on drive back out of the park.
