Great hike. Consists of quite a bit of different terrain. About halfway up in the shale(?) You can actually find both plant and animal fossils. Last part of the hike is a zinger! But so worth it when you get to the top! Awsome!!

Get an incredible work outgoing up, and enjoy great views going down. In the spring, native wildflowers bloom all around. Wear sturdy shoes.
Very nice hike, steep but fantastic views of the ocean and town. Allow at least 3 hours if possible. Bring your camera!
Great workout with a spectacular view at the top. It's a fairly strenous hike with quite a bit of elevation. It's pretty much climb up and then climb down - no flat hiking. But it is wonderful. Feels great when you are at the top.
Valencia Peak rises above Montana de Oro and the beautiful Pacific Ocean. The trail is well marked and Spring finds this area blanketed with wildflowers. Once at the top, the view is absolutely spectacular. Remember water, binoculars and a camera. DO IT!
Montana de Oro is beautiful all year around, the scenery spectacular. Lot of hiking trails linked together for those who wish to link some of the hiking trails together. Lots of parking and there are many kodak moments to be had. Valencia Peak is a moderate to strenuous hike to the top, a little steep in areas. We thoroughly enjoyed...

A very scenic but steep trail, you have to be in good shape to complete this. The view from the trail are breathtaking specially from the top. Carry some snacks and water with you and a light weight jacket.
A bit strenuous but worth the work out. Steep - bring hiking poles if you have knee issues. For me, the downhill is harder than uphill. Be sure to sign the guest book at the top. Love this hike.
Loved this hike. Began in marine layer and ended up above it. Be prepared for false summits - the peak is always "the next one up!" Not strenuous at all, but one of the more difficult ones in the park. Well worth the effort. Plus it was warm as versus the very chilly coastline trails!
The trail up to the top of Valencia Peak is challenging and worth the hike. The trail is well marked and fairly exposed; however the weather is typically cool and subject to ocean breezes. If you have a couple of hours and enjoy hiking it is a great hike.
