Excellent bird exhibit and very good rotating exhibits, thus check their web site to see what the focus is while you are in town.
Every school in Monterey County schedules a visit to this wonderful, locally valuable museum (and I remember chaperoning said trip with my child almost 20 years ago!).
If you are interested in nature at all, or have children who are, you just must stop here on your trip.
It's not the National Museum but their local peninsula exhibit is very interesting. The real show is the special exhibits. Local artist and craft people, the local historic fishing fleet, etc. Don't miss the native plant garden in back.
This small museum in Pacific Grove mMonterey ,California is well worth a visit. Its well set out and shows all aspects of the animals, birds ,plants etc found in the area.If you are in Monterey and get a damp few hours this is something of interest to do

This is a well-designed museum of modest proportions. The whale sculpture in front has been crawled on by one child after another for many, many years. The exhibits are well arranged and instructive. My granddaughter made a spider web using a glue gun and a snake out of a neck tie. I concurred my fear of spiders and held a tarantula in my hand... More
