Great for biking or walking. However, be careful with the skateboarders and some of the bikers who can be careless.....
It is a great place to walk, bike, or run. The only dislike I have it that bikers sometimes are traveling much too fast making it hazardous for those walking and are not paying attention to the traffic on the path.
What a great setup, allowing you to I walk in peace for miles along the most scenic views, and breathe great ocean air. Did it twice with our newborn, and she slept most of the way as the road is smooth and wide enough to avoid any collisions or traffic. Only black mark is the gathering of homeless people right... It's best to bike this trail during off season and during weekdays. Starting in Sand City and biking to the end at Lover's Point is an easy ride filled with beautiful scenery. You can find places to stop and rest (really not needed though) and several places to eat right off the trail.
An old rail line turned into a paved/dirt pathway for runners, walkers, strollers, bikers (non motorized), skaters, etc....it stretches from Pacific Grove's Lovers Point (secret tip...the foot path continues along the ocean to Point Pinos) along the shore to Seaside and beyond onto to the old Fort Ord property. Bikers....Watch for walkers and Walkers watch for Bikers....
We hired bikes and cycled the round trip from Monterey to Carmel.On a cool but sunny day it was a great experience.
