This small museum is surprisingly attractive inside. Just across Wilshire from two big L.A. attractions--the La Brea Tar Pits (George C. Page Museum) and LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art)--it was easy to add to our museum tour day. We enjoyed two current exhibits, one of stunning glass sculptures and the other of vintage and recent tattoo designs. As... More

Recently I’ve noticed Craft and Folk Art Museum has been going hip and interesting… well, more interesting in a way I’m interested. Different shows that include seminars, and events/parties of interest to me. I Facebook’d them, so you know its got to be something! The Tattoo Show happening now in November is great. Some of the best tattoo artists and... More

Don't bother if your expecting a curated collection of craft and folk art like, say, the Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore. This is a gallery and shop, not a museum and one shouldn't have to pay $7 to view a couple of exhibitions and the shop.

You can get here on the 720 bus from downtown LA. Its very small, maybe not worth a trip on its own, but its so near other sites that you should make some time for it. There were two shows when I was there. The Maximo Gonzalez show was terrific- good contemporary art, well displayed. There was also a Perestroika... More

The entire museum is small, clean, well lit and easy access. I was impressed by the use of vidio interviews as well as the display. This showed the process and people involved in bringing these garments to completion. It was also interesting to compare the different regional styles of embroidery. The other gallery show had a video that was just... More
