This area provides incredible, bird's eye views of San Diego. On a clear day, you could see Mexico. I would suggest bringing a light jacket in the evening. It was a bit cool and windy during our visit. We wouldn't have known this existed because it is tucked away and not really mentioned in travel books.

Wonderful views of Pacific Ocean, UCSD campus, Mission Bay Recreation area, modern downtown San Diego, Mexico 30 miles south, and 6,000 ft. tall mountains 40 miles east.

I had not heard about this monument before we went there, and it really staggered me with its design and placement. It's maybe not all that accessible, but certainly worth a visit if you're in the area.

Visited on Memorial Day -- first time seeing the veterans memorial. Loved the view of San Diego and La Jolla!

Pretty spot, awesome views. We liked the etchings of the past military. There are hundreds of etchings with details about a number of current and past deceased military members.

Although we had a bit of trouble finding this site, it was well worth the search. There's a stark white cross at the top of a walled, stone area with memorials to soldiers. What makes the memorial unique is that the plaques include pictures and fairly extensive information about each person. People also bring picnics to the grassy area around... More

This is a beautiful spot with breathtaking views of San Diego. But even more than that is the honor of viewing all of the memorials to US servicemen/women from practically every war. Plaques include notables like Jimmy Stewart, Wally Schirra, Gen'l Patton, Dwight Eisenhower, Bob Hope.

We took a tour with Tour Guide Tim and Mount Soledad was our first stop. The view from the memorial area was simply incredible.

We visited the cross memorial and were amazed at how beautiful the view was. You could see all the best beaches, both bays, Mexico and all of San Diego County. I hope the courts save this treasured war memorial.

This is one of the most beautiful and tranquil places in San Diego. Even with many people around, there is a stillness that is hard to come by. You can see EVERYWHERE. The views are great, and the memorial of the soldiers is moving. I like to walk around and read them. You should read about the controversy. this place... More
