This is such an amazing place. Next year we'll try to time our visit so we can catch the light show at night.
The Botanical Gardens are a must-see attraction in the area. I was first skeptical about the visit in mid-November. But even then there were many plants and bushes blooming and trees in fall colors. Beautiful Colors - lovely design- in a beautiful area. There is a creek towards the ocean with a delightful vista. It is a place filled with volunteers - bravo !
Depending on the time of year there is always something beautiful to see and trails to explore. I love the heathers and the rhododendrons but when the dahlias are in bloom it is spectacular. This garden is fantastic. There is a huge dahlia garden, and roses and cactus and big trees and, and, and. There is an entrance fee, but it's well worth it, and besides, the garden needs the money to keep going. Apparently most of the work is done by volunteers. Amazing.
We had a wonderful afternoon here. Gorgeous dahlias, lots of art work in the garden and even a walk to the beach. We took amazing pictures, had a nice walk, got inspired for the gardens and exercised our puppy too. It was the highlight of our Mendocino vacation and the people there were super nice. Don't miss it.
We have been visiting Ft. Bragg for over 50 years. My parents owned some property on Ellison Lane, then later, we did some commercial fishing out of Noyo Harbor.
