Dogs are good. Pacific Ocean, San Dieguito River mouth, and the beach in Del Mar all good. Most dog owners probably good, just a few bad apples sometimes.
I love Del Mar dog beach any other time than the summer because dogs must be on leash during this time. It's tough to allow your dog off leash during the other seasons but during the hottest season they can't run right into the water by themselves.
This is a nice beach to let even your children run loose :P The dogs are real nice at this beach. Parking is real easy, its a very quite and not so many people around. Our favorite spot by far!
Let's make it simple. I am reviewing this as a dog -owner. You'd be crazy to go to a dog beach if you are not a dg owner and are just looking for a typical beach day. THat is, assuming your are not a dog lover. Pros -Easy access for all of North County San Diego -ample metered parking (so... More

Dog Beach is located in a large cove, plenty of room for dogs to socialize, run and enjoy along with their owners. Never overcrowded, except maybe on special holidays.
4 paws up are what my 3 dogs gave when I asked if they liked their outing to Del Mar North Beach, affectionately called dog beach. We were able to find free parking on Camino Del Mar, also called US 101, as we made a left from SR 6 just passed Del Mar Fairgrounds. It is the area north of... More
Great beach for the dogs. Its unfortunate that the rules have changed and the off- leash beach facility has an on-leash mandate from July 15 until after labor day, kinda takes all the fun out of it. And don't forget to feed the parking meter, fines are heafty
Like most dog parks, you get a mix of good and bad dogs, and a mix of good and bad dog owners. If the tide is out, your dogs can run and play for almost 1/2 mile along the beach. It's pretty and it's friendly and it's a lot of fun. Then you can hit the do it yourself dog... More
