Forest Theater is an outdoor theater surrounded by tall Monterey pine trees. A nice intimate theater - great for the occasional movie showing or live play or musical. Founded in 1910 it was one of the earliest ampitheaters in the West. Currently run by a non-profit organization it has continued a long tradition of community theater. Highly recommend it -... More

This was really a wonderful experience for the whole family. Such a wonderful way to spend an evening. Having the kids in their pj's is a great idea and they just fall into bed afterwards

It's quite a walk to get there from the main street and it's actually just a little open theatre with benches in a middle of forest...

Probably only a handful of old-time outdoor theaters like the Forest Theater. Wonderful experience. Bring some of your own food and wine. Bring a blanket and seat cushion. Watch an old classic and leave feeling great.

This is my favorite place to see a play. There are always huge crackling fires in the night to keep you warm and add ambiance. I bring my own chilled bottle of wine and snacks. Legally allowed! The actors are always first class, and usually there is a live band to accompany the play. You will not be disappointed, this... More

This is outdoor theater in the forest of Carmel by the Sea where one can sit among pine and oak trees and enjoy every type of play imaginable from Shakespeare to Broadway. Performances and prices vary depending on the time of year and Production Company. Don't forget to bring warm clothes, a blanket to sit on since the wooden benches... More

First rate performances put on in the mystical foggy forest setting. The theater group in this town rivals New York. Acoustics are great, benches are hard. Bring a blanket to sit on, and one to wrap up in. Summer here is a misnomer- it never really gets that hot, and on a summer evening the fog will roll in thick.... More
