Great place to visit! I agree this is a must see! We were there first week of May 2013 and it is a beautiful place, nice trails and a lot of wild life (made it that much more interesting). Seals, otters, different birds, wild flowers. FYI. There is a $10 day use fee for Point Lobos. We found out that... More

We walked the perimeter of the reserve, which takes you on a number of different trails (make sure you get the trail map), a total of about 6 miles. Our walk from the entrance to the south shore was along a pleasant, winding trail that brought us to the south shore. Once we reached the shore trails, we were gob-smacked... More

Point Lobos is the Crown Jewel of the California State Parks. Avoid on Mother's Day and July 4th if at all possible, because the Park fills up fast. I can't say enough about the beauty of the park and well-maintained hiking trails. Identify the Poison Oak and stay away from it! Whaler's Cove in Point Lobos park is a popular... More

This place might be too good to share. The pictures say it all. This is a must visit if you're driving down the coast to see the Big Sur area or anything else.

We arrived on a very foggy day. We were prepared for the "marine layer" and had bought warm clothes. actually it was not that cold, but the fog did not really lift all day. However, this was not a problem in the slightest. The views were stunning and the otters and sea lions were around and about. The flora and... More

This is a great place for a quick hike. We did this prior to checking into our room. It was very pretty and easy to find/park etc. Lots of rangers will help as well!

This was really fun! I didn't know how to get to a certain place but a friendly ranger helped me find my way! I must admit the drive was the best part as you were driving you could see all of the Monterey Bay and you got that sense that you were out in the elements. When you got there... More

On our drive South down Highway 1, we saw a large line of cars waiting to enter the Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. So, on our trip back North, we stopped to see what the big attraction was. We were not disappointed. We only had time to do two trails, so the park ranger recommended the cypress trail and the... More

We drove down to Monterey and stopped at Point Lobos for a quick hike. We did the Sea Lion circle which seemed to be a popular choice. We saw sea lions, harbor seals and sea otters. I had never seen so many marine animals in their natural habitat. The trail was not difficult but had amazing views of the ocean... More

This is one of the finest places in all of California. A place where you can get exercise, see beautiful scenery, study the animals in their natural habitat, learn and rest. Take a whole day to visit this. Take a picnic. Take your children, no matter their age. Then just enjoy the abundant diversity.
