Orchha is a typical Indian Village. There's lot of Palaces, Forts, Temples, Cenotaphs etc in Orchha, but they all are poorly maintained. For Example, There were(are) many beautiful paintings in Raj Mahal, but now all are in a pathetic situation. Some are completely destroyed. Those who wished to 'enhance' those drawings added their own drawings of Gandhiji and Goddesses into... More

The Orchha Fort Complex is simply excellent to explore. There is access to most of the places. But having said that, the access isnt easy as they have tried to keep the Fort as untouched as possible. For those with walking ailments and people who are on the stouter side, my recommendation would be not to try to climb the... More

It was our official trip (Outbound training activity) & we visited Orchha during the month of Nov 2011, It was Starting of Winter hence was not very hot (usually it had long summer / Hot days thorough out the year). Orchha is a pretty little place which is gradually being discovered by tourists from all over the world. We stayed... More

This fort has rich history so be sure to get a good guide. Our guide charged us Rs. 200 but we paid him an extra Rs. 100 to see the Chattris and the Laxmi mandir too. It was peak summer and river Bewwa had almost run dry, but this place must be heavenly after rains. More

Even if you are only doing a small tour, get a guide and ask a lot of questions. It's worth visiting even in the evening - much cooler and not too crowded. The stories about fate and bravery impressed us, the views are stunning and the whole layout is clean and wide. Enjoyable! More

It is a very interesting visit. Having a guide with you ,you can learn a lot about their past and enjoy some extremely well kept carvings and paints (frescoes). More

The fort was interesting but we'd be spoiled by going to much better forts earlier on our trip to Northern India. You cannot go past the fabulous Amber Fort. More

Beautiful palace/fort but like many monuments in India, it has not been maintained which is a pity. We enjoyed the peace and serenity of the place. Lucky us, this place doesn't have the crowd and chaos of other more mainstream places of interest like Agra Fort or Qutb Minar. More

On top of the palace built to please the mogul who only stayed there for one day you have great views all around the surrounding area which is full of archeological remains of all types as well as well preserved hindu temples. This is a special place. More
