The remaining King Ashoka's stupas are still majestically standing tall. Very nice stone carving about Buddha's life and King Ashoka's life. Must see!

Sanchi is famous for outstanding specimens of Buddhist art and architecture The most important of all the Sanchi monuments is the Sanchi Stupa. Stupas are large hemispherical domes, containing a central chamber, in which the relics of the Buddha were placed. The Sanchi Stupa is one of the best historical & archeological wonders of our world .
Good Gardens and a nice picnic spot! The monuments close at 5 p.m. So one must leave early to spend some time there. There is an entrance ticket but not very expensive. The place is clean. Other thing to see aroundso plan your trip accordingly.

Although the timings say "sunrise to sunset" the ticket window did not open up, till good 15 minutes after the sunrise. I was hoping to get a glimpse of the rising sun behind the stupa. The place is really well kept and...

Stunning but get there early and see the mist clear, as we were leaving a couple of buses arrived. One of the best historic sites we visited in India.
The stone carving is exceptional - the audio-guide very helpful and interseting, and the general situation peaceful and attractive.
