The temple is located at a vast space. The lord is placed inside a small garba graham which has Nava dwaram - a small window with 9 partitions.Devotees are allowed inside in small groups for darshan to avoid suffocation and the queue is well managed.
It is a beautiful temple built by a Chola king who built seventy temples in Tamil Nadu! His name - Kochengannaan. Lots of intricate work on the stone pillars.
The temple was an old one with many beautiful carvings. It is a rambling one with many prakarams and many small shrines. Being a religious day, the temple fortunatley did not close at noon as usual and I was able to have a leisurely darshan with some people present only near the garbha griha. Loved the ambience very much.
