The non-profit USDA licensed refuge, founded in 1992, has grown to become one of the Top 10 attractions in Arkansas and the most popular in Eureka Springs. Lions, cougars, leopards, tigers, and bears are displayed in large natural habitats surrounding the main compound enclosures and gift shop. Each animal has its own story/history plaque for self-guided tours and over night accommodations are available via the Safari Lodge, RV park, and camping facilities. I have been to TCWR 5 times now. It is an incredible place to visit if you like big cats/bears. You get to hear amazing rescue stories about all the animals there, plus you can stay right on the grounds for a great overnight experience and free admission to the refuge. All money given at Turpentine Creek goes right back... More

I recently visited the wildlife at the Refuge and I absolutely enjoyed seeing these guys. I was floored when I heard some of their stories and how they ended up there. I hope to visit again real soon. Sincerely, Shannah

I'm from the Kansas City area, and I've heard about this place for years through a local radio station. I've always wanted to stop by to see the good work the people at Turpentine Creek are doing. It was late in the afternoon almost 5, I knew it was getting close to closing time, but we decided to stop by... More

This place does a very good thing for animals. The tour was very informative and worth the trip. The interns do a very good job and I am grateful for people like them. The stories/names of each animal is listed. It tells why each animal is in there and during the tour a lot of the animals stories are told.... More

Came here years ago and really enjoyed a return visit, they are so dedicated to saving these big cats (and other wild animals) and caring for them. We arrived in time for the last tour of the day at 4 and then the 5:00 feeding, highly recommend both! A must do for all animal lovers.

What these people do for these animals is wonderful. A lot of the animals have previously been abused or neglected. It was sad to see these beautiful creatures in pens instead of in their natural habitat but they are very well taken care of and would never survive in the wild. A definate must see if you go to Eureka... More

Great info on The Big Cats, and very sad to see. Please do not purchase a Wild Animal as a pet. If you looking for a good charity to donate to pick Turpentine Creek.

This place was great! It's really great to see animals taken care of so well. The tour is very imformitive and you must stay for the feeding at 5:00 pm. The roar of the big cats as they are about to be fed is an expirence that you must witness.

Plan a while there on a very pretty day. I practice patience when I go to places like this and this is my first visit here. Fun sure if you have kids but I went alone and it was really lovely. Neat gift shop.
