Supposed to be the best sunset view - Usually crowded & we had clouds each evening. You may have better luck if you get there early on a clear evening.

There is an excellent view of Sedona from the top of the airport mesa. They have closed off the views to the south unfortunately and if you are looking for the "vortex" marked on some visitors maps it seems to be a bout halfway up the road on the east side. Worth the 10 minute drive!
This new restaurant has a cool and modern look. Airplane related posters, photos and models decorate the spacious room. Food is a little pricey but well worth it.
I had never been to this area before and a friend of mine took me there when I was visiting her. The view from the overlook was amazing. I can only imagine what it must look like at sunset. Having visited Colorado Springs a couple of years ago, I was quite surprised to see the similarities of Sedona and Colorado...

We took the advice of fellow trip advisors and went to watch the sunset from this point. It was fun to look below at the valley and see the whole town.
You get to Airport Mesa from 89. They have ample parking and the view is just beautiful. Take lots of pictures. Parking is free however they do ask for donations for the maintenance of the scenic view point. This place is known for sunset views however I went there during the day time and it was very beautiful. On our...

This is the place for Sedona sunsets. The weather was cloudy and stormy today but so worthwhile. Got there about 30 minutes before sunset and claimed a rock (stood on it for photos). Watched the rain move over the buttes/mesas and rewarded with beautiful sunset. Easy trip to the spot. Parking is free but be sure to leave $$ in...

In my opinion, the view of the sunset from the airport wasn't really the greatest. It provides a great view of the actual sunset, yes, but there are other spots in Sedona that might offer a view of both the sunset AND the sun on the rocks and how it casts different shadows/colors on them.
I would try to get...

We went to Airport Mesa for sunset (along with several hundred other people). It was not too crowded for getting great pics. On the way down, we stopped at the airport overlook and climbed the rock there where one of the vortexes is located. Great views of Bell, Cathedral and Courthouse rocks on the side of the Mesa where hwy...

Drove the short drive up to the Mesa and enjoyed sunsets two evenings in a row with about a hundred other people. Some of the prettiest sunsets (and pictures) that I have experienced. The first turn out about half a mile up was usually very crowded with little parking available. Another half mile up on top of the mesa is...
