I collect dolls ,found this of interest, had alot of older toys also.Not very easy to park around this area,as its very near the larger museum and downtown
This old Victorian house is filled with excellent examples of dolls from many countries and times. I loved the Gift shop too. Filled with books, dolls and misc. to bring home.
I found this place a bit hard to find...parked on a side street that faced Arizona University, and walked into the heritage complex. Stopped to ask for directions twice and finally found it! This is the best $3 you'll spend. My date and I were in this small-but-beautiful museum/house for nearly two hours completely engrossed in the history and art that this place contained. Some of the older but less rare dolls and toys are even for sale in the gift shop. This is a must see!
The museum itself was fine but the woman who took our money was quite rude. Before we had even walked away she was back on the phone complaining to whoever she was speaking to that we had both paid separately with $5's and talking about how annoyed she was that she had to use all her one's to give us... This place seemed more like a store that charged admission.
For anyone who appreciates dolls and miniatures, this place is great. It has a wonderful collection which go back 100 years or so, and also includes many European dolls. The woman who runs it is very knowledgeable and is happy to answer questions and provide additional information. Please note that this is NOT really for children, nor is it Disney-like.... More
We enjoyed the time we spent at this museum. We saw a lot of toys we remembered from growing up. It is very nicely displayed, clean, and quite a few rooms to go through. If you like dollhouses and miniatures, you will enjoy it.
Ok, so the price is pretty good at $3, but the owner of the museum really spoiled it with her discoureous attitude. She got very put out when I wanted to use my credit card to pay my admission.
