We let us drive, before returning to Quito, by Taxi to the Zoo. We spend 1hour there, enough time for a overwiew of the place. There are interesting animals to see them close but the quality of living space is poor and most animals seemed to be bored.Pity!

A fair walk from the centre, the zoo has many local animals, several types of monkeys, a jaguar, pumas, turtles, many different birds, parrots, some huge condors, as well as some rare animals like spectacle bears and a tapir. I found the quality of the animals living space lacking room and most animals seemed bored, sad. The Aquarium across the... More

The zoo in Baños is not huge or fancy but it is a good day out to have a walk around and see everything.

We went on a weekday to the zoo, and had it pretty much to ourselves. It's high on a hill, and meanders through with cages tucked in and around. The Spanglish signs were entertaining, and had good information. It's not as bad as some zoos, not as cramped for some of the animals. And it was a way to see... More

We did a great little bike ride with our 2 year old in tow and headed to the zoo for the afternoon. There was a lot to see and our son loved it!

Not like any zoo you will see in the states. It only costs $2 to get in! You are VERY close to the animals. Great scenery all around you.

i'm not the biggest fan of zoos. although this zoo has small enclosures for many of the animals (like with most zoos), it is a great day out for kids of all ages to see some of the ecuadorean (and other) wildlife which you normally wouldn't have the opportunity to see out in the wild. the location is spectacular and... First off, this zoo is built in to the side of a mountain. They have a wide variety of animals ranging from the mighty Condor to local animals that you may never see in any other zoo outside the area. Love this place, well maintained.
