Totally different than the cathedral, teaches us about peace, art and simplicity. It is worthy a visit for sure!
Magnificent from the fantastic shade, brick red, of its walls to its high rise tower. There are guided tours every half hour, starting at 9:30 am. The cloisters are so peacefull
A lovely church inside and out, if only didn't close it 12-5 week days. Various different images inside and life size saints

visited august 2011. such a fantastical building on the outside. the inside is nice, too, but when compared to the main cathedral of salta, the interior is less impressive. worth a look from the outside for sure and the little gift store attached has fun chotskies for sale.
For first time visitors in Salta this landmark is definitely high on the list of things you *must* see. That said, the church would be very difficult to avoid, and it is a quick visit. Well worth it: it is stunning!
We just love the bright colors of the facade --brick-red and bright turmeric-yellow! Be sure to check the hours, since it is closed to visitors over the noon hours. Take a peek (& try for a visit, if possible) of the very peaceful cloister with its beautiful garden. It's just one block from the main square.
The church outside is really impressive, the bell tower is incumbent with its three orders of columns that rise high over the church. Exterior is more impressive that the inside, but the adjacent garden is an oasis of peace.
