If you like Mines, this is a good trip to take from Puerto Iguazu. Not cheap prices but really beautiful geodes and precious stones
We stopped at Wanda Mines on our way to the Missions. I had never seen this kind of mine before, so I really wanted to walk around and learn more about the stones. However, our guide was "weak" and did not do a good job. He wasn't very enthusiastic either and didn't explain too much. It was a pity! The... More
if you go with low expectations you will be OK. It is a family owned small mine and you get to see raw crystals embedded in rocks in their natural state. The shop has lots of lovely stones and as is with all such attractions world over, they are high priced. As seasoned travellers, you should be able to just... More
Your excursion to San Ignacio Mini will stop here. The tour is interesting and educational. And even though there will be a big crowd, you can find some great deals on jems in the gift shop.
We hired a driver to take us from Puerto Iguazú to Posadas and made a brief stop at Wanda for a short, uninspiring tour. Perhaps most striking were the village's crumbling infrastructure and “African” standard of living despite the income generated from the mines.

I seriously doubt the shafts they showed us are still active though, so it's a bit misleading, but it doesn't matter, I still enjoyed seeing it. I didn't like the hard sell in the shop afterwards at all and... More
Interesting site but of limited appeal beyond the unique geology, and as with so many small attractions, geared up for the traveller to visit the shop at the end of the tour under the constant gaze of a dedicated shop assistant (not pushy, but can be off-putting for some). However, an impressive range of goods not all of which widely... More
Nice tour given by a guy who spoke great English (a rarity in this area). The mines were really neat, and seeing all the raw stone was cool. The shop is overpriced, you can find better prices almost anywhere in the province, but the selection is unparalleled. If there's something you're really drawn to, get it here, but if it's... More
Yes it is interesting to see these crystals in the basalt where they have been for millions of years - but it is worth 5 to 10 minutes not half an hour. Furthermore I have no interest in buying crystals - despite the pressure; polite as it was.
