This is my second posting to TripAdvisor.com (the first was this past January) re GERRY AND LUCÍA. We (my wife Vilma and I) continue to be impressed with their tango instruction and their dancing -- surely among the best, and the most authentic tango, that Buenos Aires has to offer. - And now (the reason for this new posting), Gerry... I have been going to Buenos Aires to dance tango for years and I know quite well most milongas in the city. Flor de Milonga is la milonga de San Telmo on Tuesdays. It is located at the first floor of an old house in Independencia. The decor is romantic. Its ambiance is one of a milonga de barrio :... More

This milonga got mixed reviews from my Argentine friends, but as it was our last night and we were staying in San Telmo we decided to give it a go. The ambience is family, laid back and the level of tango is excellent. Great demo and just an easy, stress free evening, The floor is not great, the wine rough... More

A "familiy run" Milonga in San Telmo with a good mixture of local dancers and tango addicted foreigners. Lucia and Gerry give you the feeling to belong there, they play good music, treat you with homemade empanadas and organise for every Milonga a highlight like a performance of Tango dancers or a tango live band. A professionally organised Milonga with... More

We visited last week while in B. A. For just a few days. Both of us are rank tango beginners, but both Gerry, and Lucia made us feel very welcome and comfortable. It was a blast being able to learn from a couple of real Masters! They are both wonderful teachers. Some of the reviews said this place was hard... More

We went to a Tuesday night milonga near the San Telmo area and found it to be a wonderful experience. There was plenty of air circulation with big fans, great empanadas and a wonderful, unexpected show of fantastic talent! First there was an Italian actress putting on a one woman show of Tango humor. Second, a Hungarian couple that demonstrated... More

I became crazy for tango after visiting a "milonga". It was fantastic. People are so organized and dance for 4 songs and stop. Men and women are mostly alone or with friends but they know each other just for dancing. Is like in 1940 with codes. I went with my tour guide Liz who explained the rules. She is a... More

I think the lesson were 25 pesos and include the Milonga afterwards (which is usual). Its located at Indipendencia 525 which rents out its space to different instructors each night. Flor de Milong is on Tuesday night. The teachers are a very nice couple called Lucia and Gerry. Gerry is originally from Ireland so there lesson is completely bilingual. That... More

One cannot go to Buenos Aires without tasting the real tango atmosphere there! As a foreigner, looking for tango, one can easily get caught by one of these very expensive, fake tourists traps though. Not so when one goes to Lucia & Gerry's tango classes and/or milonga. I truly enjoyed the enthusiasm and passion of both teachers and the atmosphere... More

Friends from Buenos Aires recommended Flor de Milonga as an "underground" milonga I might enjoy on a recent visit to the city, and they were so right. Unpretentious, colorful, and warm, and frequented by an interesting mix of locals and internationals, Flor de Milonga is filled with all that I love about tango--great music, plenty of dancing, and performances that...
