The walk with the guide is challenging over old coral (very uneven) and down into the cave but worth the effort. In the cave you see the Kopeka bird and in another cave (part of the same cave set) you can even go for a swim. They have put some candles in the cave making for a romantic scene. Tip:... More

Hard to say if the cave is what I won't forget or if it's the tour guide Marshall. Wikipedia? No way, Marshall is better. He rarely doesn't know the answer. You'll love that tour guide. Just ask him what you want to know. Doesn't matter if you ask questions related to the tour or in general about Atiu island. His... More

There were only two other people in my tour group, which made the experience all that more intimate. The birds here are fascinating and the underground pool was eerie, but refreshing. There isn't much of a pathway, so a guide is well-worth the price. Also, the hike there over razor sharp coral is a bit worrisome. More

I am very claustrophobic but it was well worth suffering for this tour. The caves are very impressive and the little kopeka birds are amazing, clicking their way in and out of the caves in the darkness and avoiding all the stalactites and stalagmites., Amazing. And you get to go to a bush beer drinking session afterwards! superb. More

So you've seen your share of caves and don't think you have to do another one? Well, there is something special about this one though... For starters, this limestone cave with all those nice formations is partly open to the side. Then, banyan roots coming from high above form a spectacular curtain along a stretch. But what really makes this... More

Perhaps I'm easily amused, perhaps I just like unique natural history phenomena, but standing in the dark at the back of this cave and hearing the swiftlets flying around giving their echolocating chirps was one of the coolest things I've experienced. And Marshall is an excellent guide. Just be sure to wear something other than flip-flops for walking across the... More

I took this tour through my Encounter Package at Atiu Villas. Earlier in the day, I went on Marshall's Discovery Island Tour. Marshall sure seems to know his stuff on the island and he can make a great banana muffin so we agreed to take this cave tour to see these birds that live nowhere else in the world. Marshall... More
