The waterfalls are so beautiful. After hiking to the falls, the jump in the cool, fresh water is so amazing. Don't jump off the second or third waterfall though, I've heard of people getting really badly hurt!

The Beach is beautiful but i guess this is the main attraction of Montezuma. Do not expect too much as this is not the sooo impressing waterfalls u can see but it's worth the hike. It's 20mins hike from the main road. You just trek the side of the river from the bridge. Dont forget to use hiking shoes.
you can reach "cementario" only during low tied. if you do not want to get wet go back in due time. around the island is the snorchel area, go there when the sun is shining and the sea is calm.
Carlos was our affable guide. I don't think we could have made it safely to the top without him.. He lives in Cabuya, but his grandfather runs the parking lot at the base of the trail, so if you ask him, he will get Carlos there to guide you. We hiked all the way to the top and did some...

as it is only a short walk from town it's a worthwhile side trip but don't expect too much. The place was packed with locals when we were there. The water was cool and refreshing but it was just another waterfall.
I hiked the trail with my daughter who was almost four at the time. We could not have found the way without the help of a friendly guide named Carlos, who helped us across the rough spots, even carrying my daughter on his back much of the way. She loved it!
Hiking up to the Montezuma falls is a must for anyone visiting the Nicoya Peninsula. I believe it was my favorite part of my trip. You get to hike up a creek to a small pond at the base of a waterfall that is great for swimming, laying out, or jumping off rocks [with caution]. The water is great, and...

we did the zipline tour. I'd recommend that. Much better than hiking the whole way. Jumping in the pool of the waterfall is so fun. very warm.
This is a must-do when in the Montezuma area!
First, let me caution anyone who wants to do the entire hike with children. I advise against it due to steep inclines, poor paths, and rocky terrain. Our 12 year-old was fine, but our 5 year-old could not have done it without help from Carlos (see below). We were told by...

Clearest, freshest water ever is at the end of the Green Season when it is full and magical. Know that there are other amazing falls nearby with less people. Walk up Rio Lahas for an hour or so and magic awaits.
