The gardens begin with the natural beauty of Costa Rica and four waterfalls in the property with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. To this millions of plants, flowers and orchids from all over the world have been added. Manicured walkways meander long a river and at the crest of the mountain which make the entire 50 acre gardens accessible to all. Have lunch in our restaurant and browse the gift shop that offers authentic Costa Rica gifts. « less

We visited Pura Vida Gardens and Waterfalls as part of an excursion from our cruise ship trip through the Panama Canal. As part of this trip we had lunch at the Pura Vida Gardens, toured the Gardens and viewed the waterfalls. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the many plants and flowers in the Gardens. If you're in the area... More

After driving up a 45 rocky road we reached Pura Vida Waterfalls and inquired what it was and what we would see. The owners told us it we would see three waterfalls one being the biggest in Costa Rica, one we could climb and swim in and the other to enjoy. The biggest water fall was one barely seen in... More

We got there later in the day and only had 1.5 hrs, and it wasn't long enough. We spent some time over looking the waterfalls and watching the Scarlet Macaws flying below. It's a crazy drive up the hill, and the place is surrounded by cliffs, so keep an eye on little ones. They shouldn't run free. A little pricey,... More

My family and I wanted to see macaws in the wild while in Costa Rica. We went to Carara National Park as this was supposed to be THE place to go. Alas we were disappointed as we saw none. The Park was beautiful, but our goal was not met. We read about Pura Vida Botanical Gardens in a tourist book... More

The gardens here were quite beautiful and the views were breathtaking. We were able to get photos holding their Toucan. The hardest part was getting transportation. From Jaco, it was $30 each way but the trip up the mountain was quite an experience and made the trip a real adventure. We saw iquanas and monkeys along the way and we... More

Since Costa Rica is known for it's flora a fauna, I thought this would be a good chance to see it up close and personal. This was an excursion from a cruise ship. We actually saw several animals on the way (white face monkeys, Coatimunti, Iguana, macaws). The driver and guide were very good about stopping and pointing out things.... More

The drive up in our rental car was an adventure itself. What views, it was 1/2 the fun. Pura vida is inexpensive at $20 pp. great views do waterfall from adventure dining platform. The nature walk along the creek was very cool. Lots of lizards and even saw a poison frog. We are not much for the botanical gardens but... More

We went to Pura Vida as part of an organised trip from our cruise ship and are really glad we did. It is a lovely, peaceful place and boasts a huge range of colourful plants, most of which are helpfully labelled for non-experts. The gardens are beautifully maintained. It was hot walking around in the late morning, but if you... More

We took a day to drive along the coast towards Manuel Antonio and took the time to stop here and we were very happy we did. What a beautiful spot, well maintained with lush vegetation all around. We walked on the trail and stopped along the way and were amazed at some of the views. We returned about an hour... More

My husband and I went for breakfast one morning to eat and tour the gardens. We met the owner Dave, who was very nice and accomodating. The food was delicious! The gardens were beautiful! Everything was very affordable! While touring the gardens we got to watch 4 Macows playing, which was amazing. I recommend going and seeing the beautiful scenery.... More
