Literally at the end of the road, great beach to hang out at for the day and the food at Lola's was excellent. Plan on being patient if they are busy.

This was one of the most gorgeous beaches I've ever been to and I've traveled far to many beaches! Beautiful...spend the day, get a bite at Lola's and watch the sunset which is spectacular. Great for kids.

A beautiful beach especially for sitting at Lola's watching the breakers come in and the surfers out on the water. Worth the drive from Playa Tamarindo with a very different atmosphere.

Absolutely gorgeous beach! There are really not that many secluded beaches like this left. There are no high rise hotels, noisy traffic or big crowds. Everyone goes on about this beach and it is nice but as you go down the coast of Costa Rica you'll find beaches just as nice and more remote and unless you have a car I wouldn't bother getting a $50 taxi to it

Great spot, have lunch at Lola's and let time fade away. There are multiple surf breaks along this stretch of beach as well

This is def the more "pro surf" type of beach, but, still, go, surf, and make sure you do not miss lunch @ Lulu's. Try the ceviche. Best I've ever had.

We have been to Avellan's three times now. This beach was used for the making of the movie "Endless Summer II". We have seen Parrots fly by and don't miss Lola the pig at Lola's restaurant. great place to spend the day. Clean restrooms, great food and nice beach. Road from Tamarindo is not nice, dusty and bumpy but worth the trip!
