The genius of visiting Proyecto Asis is that not only is it a lovely experience, but the entrance fee allows you to contribute to the important work being done to rescue and rehabilitate animals. Carlos was our guide, and he did a great job, clearly a great teacher and naturalist :]. "Volunteering" (helping to prepare food for and feeding the... More

Hi Nora738, We are really thankful for the visit. It's definitely the entrance fee one of the most important contributions volunteers do, as well as the work done for feeding the animals. Our goal with this activity is to raise awareness about the importance of respecting wildlife and their own natural habitat. We are glad to know the activity is... More

This was absolutely the highlight of our trip! The tour was interesting and informative, but our absolute favorite was the volunteer time. If you love animals, this is the epitome for you! You get to prepare food and feed all the animals, including petting the kinkajou and having baby capuchin monkeys climb on you! We laughed so hard and got... More

Great chance to see injured/orphaned/confiscated wildlife up close, and hear their individual stories from Carlos, a wonderful and enthusiastic guide. I paid extra to stay for the volunteer session, and was able to help prepare and feed the animals, even inside some of their cages! A really heart-warming and enriching experience!

We had a hard time getting our daughter to leave. It's absolutely worth staying for the volunteering time because you get to prepare food and feed the animals, maybe even hold the baby monkeys. Our tour guide Carlos was very friendly and knowledgeable, and staff were great. They do some great work there caring for the animals and releasing them... More

We did some research on this place and seemed like it would be a fun experience. Well that was very true and more. Carlos, our guide did a great job of explaining all of the animals, got to hold and feed a lot of them and learned a lot about the animals of Costa Rica. Would highly recommend this experience... I'm not sure "sanctuary" is really quite the right word; basically they take in wild animals who've been taken out of the wild for some reason (often captured to be used as pets; sometimes just found abandoned as babies, etc.), try to rehabilitate them so they can be released into the wild, and provide a comfortable life for those who... You learn a lot, but really you're just waiting until you can pet the animals. They are working for a great cause and they let you have a little fun too by being able to touch and hold some monkeys. You can feed all kinds of birds and other animals. They do have a small amount of animals but again,... More

We went here on a whim after reading Trip Advisor reviews, and boy are we glad we did! We did the tour and volunteer - so were able to feed and hold some of the animals. They do wonderful work here and would recommend this tour to anyone - couples, singles or families!
