Yes, Kolkata is the first city to have underground metro rail. Since then people went there even to have an experience. We travelled by metro from park to Tollygaunge for experience. It is good. But now Delhi metro has come , but Delhi metro is not fullt under ground. Over ground is more. One should be careful while boarding metro

Over the last few years, metro ride in Calcutta is no more any fun. This time around I found that it has become very crowded and also quite dirty, but otherwise the quickest form of communication in Calcutta.

With Delhi Metro being operational and expanding in leaps and bounds in last decade and Bangalore-Mumbai metro on a nascent operational stage, it cannot boast of its uniqueness no more , but still Indians can feel pride of... I was very impressed with the Kolkata subway. It was very clean, efficient and amazingly inexpensive. Fares are only 4 or 6 rupees for the trips I made- equal to less than 10 cents!

Kolkata metro rail, the first underground railway system in India. It is clean, pollution free, fastest movement within city... now a large no. of ac rakes are in operation. But everyday it is facing technical problems, time schedule is not maintained properly. It is now stretched between Kavi Subhash (New Garia) and Dumdum (north 24 Parganas). After 2009, a large... Clean, efficient, punctual, the Metro explodes all negative myths about Kolkatans and their untidy ways. Started over 25 years ago, the Metro continues to be an important travel lifeline which is clean and efficiently run. Now being expanded to the airport to be connected to Howrah station, it has become an indispensable part of the quintessential Kolkatan.

Metro rail is an underground railway service in Kolkata which started in early 80s. It is known as 'Paataal Rail' in Bengali, which means Underground Train. Metro has been a boon for everyone in Kolkata, from student going to the university to office commuters to Park street. On a regular day it is the fastest way to get around if you want to avoid the traffic. It might get a little crowded. But it's much better to ride a crowded metro for 20 mins rather than... More
