Galta gorge could be one of the best places to visit out of Jaipur, but the dirth and the bad smell spoil all the romantic view, the beautiful temples, the Surya temple with the scenic view of the sunset, etc.

Don't bother going, it's dirty, empty, many scoundrel "religious men" who constantly want money....dirty sgragly monkeys aren't even cute (unfortunately)....I was very disappointed and could honestly tell you that you wouldn't be missing anything if you skipped this sight
Not really worth the visit. The place is pretty grotty, and contrary to other reviewers I didn't get any particularly good vibes from the gorge, or the temple on top.
The highlight of the trip there was that a Bollywood movie was being filmed there, and so the lower area teemed with people and colour. That was a bit of...

This is such a lovely place to go! It's approx 20 mins from Jaipur but it's definitely worth it. Tens of monkeys live there and you can buy nuts to feed them at the entrance. It's also full of pilgrims bathing or praying.
When I was there I also saw a snake charmer...not exactly my cup of tea but interesting...

The temple has very positive vibes about it. You have to be fit and able to climb a lot of steps though. There is also a place where a sadhu used to do penance - you climb up the steps on the left when you are facing Galta Ji. There is a tunnel (surang) which they have now sealed. It...

Visited this place on a small outing/picnic with friends. It was very disappointing to see the pond and temple being so dirty, absolutely no maintenance. Though a small consolation came in the form of numerous peacocks, parrots and other beautiful birds and a number of monkeys. The old architecture makes for a fine backdrop. But,if one skips this place from their itinerary...

Went there just before sunset on the 21st Dec 2012. There were over 200 monkeys all around us! We also spotted lots of peacocks and parrots along the way. But beware, the temple and pond itself is pretty dirty and stinks, but the overall experience is quite memorable.
The gorge is a very nice place to visit in a sunny day. I would go there again, not much to see, but a lot to discover.
Peace and tranquillity adorn this two hour leisurely walk from Galta village to Monkey temple. Monkeys everywhere, great old architecture set in a backdrop of rolling hills. Lots of fun - some great photo opportunities.
I LOVED THIS PLACE!
Walking over the ridge in the mountains from the waste of time that is the monkey temple, Galta gorge really is a real hidden gem. It's a very small collection of homes and a temple set high up in a mountain gorge, miles away from the hustle and bustle of the City,
The views themselves are...
