A hot sunny day well compensated by the ease of entry and peaceful prayer. The view from the temple was quite soothing. We went on a Tuesday afternoon. The temple is open from 5ish in the morning to till about 7ish in the evening.

Mahalaxmi Temple is located opposite race course. It is one of Mumbai's must visit temple of Goddess Mahalaxmimata , Goddess Mahakalimata and Goddess Mahasaraswatimata . It has Lord Hanuman's temple also nearby with wonderful seashore for cool breeze.
Great views of the dirty bay. Very strict security control and extremely busy. If you can withstand the crowd it is worth visiting. A colddrink at the restaurant will make up for the crowds
Very organised place of worship. Very ckean unlike most of the places of worshipion India. Locals are very much law abiding. You can have a special Puja for you and your family if you want in the mrning between 08 00 to 14 00. Prior appointment required.
Scenic view, divine and serene..not to miss when you are in Mumbai. Bags are not allowed inside the temple. Make sure you do not carry one.
I visited the temple on 20th April, 2013 while travelling on Mumbai darshan's bus.
The temple has idols of three devis :-
(a) Kali
(b) Saraswati
(c) Mahalakshmi
You can visit the place in less then 1 hour normally. Some points needs to be noted while visiting the temple :-
(a) Handbags are not allowed inside the temple.

This is very old temple of Mumbai and not to be missed, close to sea and overlooking Haji Ali. Sea access is restricted though
