I have never visited a monastery before and this place felt good. There is a nice vibe there which is only spoiled by some irresponsible tourist who cant understand the sign boards which request them for respect of tge place and quietness. I dont know if its a must visit place in coorg. But if visiting a Buddhist monastery is... More

The golden monastery is a must visit while in coorg. This place is approximately 80 kms from Mysore and takes 90 mins by car. While in Coorg one can enjoy the various tourist spots in nearby Kushalnagar and Madikeri.

Calm and tranquil atmosphere. Most beautifully decorated and clean temple interiors. The golden monastery top and Budha statue are awesome. I am yet to see such a beautiful budhist monastery.

This monastery is, in a way, the gift of the Tibetan people to the Indian community in return for the love they have got from the friendly region and the country. And there in the midst of the jungles of Karnataka is a feast for your eyes as a culture in contrast, shouting out the friendliness, harmony and the secular... More

After a long drive from madikeri to kushalnagar, I found this place really peaceful. Its a tibetan monastery. You can find the monks offering prayers in their tradition. We have leave our footwear to enter into the temple. We can see 60ft statues of buddhas.close your eyes and sit there in silence to feel the serenity of it.

Peaceful. This is the word which can best describe the place. The Namdroling monastery is extremely well maintained and the resident monks are very helpful to the tourists. The main statue of the Buddha is over 40 feet tall and is an awe-inspiring sight indeed. One can just sit in front of the idol and meditate for hours. Just outside... More

Every time I head to Coorg I definitely visit the Golden Temple at the Namdroling Monastery nearby. The monastery is a major attraction for people who are interested in Tibetan beliefs, art and philosophy. The premises transforms itself during the annual festivals. This is situated in Bylakuppe near Kushalnagar (you can get a bus to this place if you're travelling... More
