Its a nice highway, if you can call it a "Highway". By Indian standards, yes its alright. It gets a bit crowded whenever you come across a village or a town. If they can make a highway from Zirakpur to Kalka, why cant they make "Kalka-Shimla" 4 lane expressway? It would solve the travel issues! More

This is a very interesting journey for rail enthusiasts, but others will enjoy the amazing scenery, and Shimla itself is well worth a visit, but be prepared for lots of steps! We elected to stay overnight in Kalka so we could catch the early`Shivalik Express. This is the luxury trip, with better seating and less crowded than the `Himalayan Queen'.... More

Really quaint, fantastic views, very prompt but it is very small and the seats are quite narrow for 2 people, and very uncomfortable. Take a cushion and it would be excellent. Not much space for luggage so travel light if possible. I would really reccomend this. More

Due to busy schedule I cant travel from Kalka to Shimla but a short distance is travelled and the experiance is amazing a lot of trains available and some of the charter trains also available. Route is very beutiful and a life time experiance its run faster than the Neelgiri Toy train but overall experiance is excellent. More

Good experience for new traveler who is trying toy train first time. But you may find it tiring and slow if you try it again. More

Even though it takes long time and crowded old train, the scenery we see is great. It is a different experience. Remember to carry enough water and food, though you might get something on the way. More
