as soon as our car got through the gates, the view from the window transported me back to the time of the British Raj in India- things I have only seen in movies and read about of course !
The entire complex has been very well maintained whilst still maintaining authencity.

Viceroy lodge or Summer Rastrapati Niwas and now Indian Institue of Advanced Study is beutiful architechtural builiding constructed by Berma Teak and outer facing is Stone. There is a nominal fees of Rs 100.00 per person and a guide is available to explain in Hindi and English.

What wonderful architecture , lovely lawns , bueatiful landscaping , serene surroundings , it is a masterpiece . Just love the place . It reminds you of the old world charm of Shimla .Have been there quite a few times but would not miss another chance to be there again.

We visited by walking from the Mall up the roadway (600m) and approached via teh Old Fire Station (now a cafe, gift shop and public conveniences. The building is beautiful and with snow on the ground, it was hard to believe you were in India !! The guide was very good and informative and happy to answer any questions. It was so interesting to hear of the part Shimla and this building played in the history of India.
