There is a nice walkway that lead to Niah Caves. It's about 3km and is totally part of the experience. A fun place to go :)

We went by local taxi from Miri to Niah although it is easy enough by bus. Time was a factor for us. The Niah Cave experience was very good and although it was raining on the walk in it was enjoyable. In hindsight I should have done more research and stayed locally overnight rather then in Miri. There are some...

I cannot understand why can't the authorities apply the same care and attention that they do for Mulu Caves to the Niah Caves. The Niah Caves are also pretty inspiring and beautiful yet it is so poorly taken care of. Even the walkway in the jungle to the caves is falling apart and so slippery after it rains. There is...

Easy to explore, anyone should visit this place. Explore the cave in pitch dark, view inside the cave to the outside forest is really great, especially during rain, it form a transparent curtain to the outside world.
Miri per se is the dullest place, not worth of seeing at all. No need in visiting Miri with its Canada Hill, Old Lady, bazaars and Chinese temple. We waisted two days staying there. It was wrong choice. We had to stay there because of visiting Niah caves. We were attracted by tourist booklet which promised us acquaintance with prehistoric...

The Niah caves filled me with awe. The hike through the rainforest was a lot of fun--plenty of wildlife to see if you slow down and take time to really look. At the fork in the road, go right; to the left is a path to a village. The map they give you at the park entrance has a left...

Niah caves may not be as big as the Mulu caves, but it offers you with beautiful landscape and natural architecture. You'll be amazed how thousands of years can develop such one of a kind beauty every camera must capture. To get to the caves, I had to take a 45 minutes walk. Wear comfortable footwear such as sport shoe...

Adventure, thrill and exploration are things that go together. The caves are vast, dark and smelly. There is bat and bird poop everywhere. The wooden board-walk to the cave and through the cave is extremely slippery. I underestimated how slippery the walk was so be prepared.
Be prepared as you'll need to pay a small entrance fee with foreigners paying...
