Queues are LONG because visitors have to crawl down to the idols, and crawl back up. Do not send anyone where who is either elderly (post 70s) or 6 ft or more than 100kgs !
You have to go down through a narrow staircase, on all fours to reach the shrine where the Lord Ram, Lakshman and Sita idols are kept. It is believed to be the place where Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman lived partly during their exile before Sita was abducted by Raavan. Just outside you can see three of the famous five...

Kalaram temple along with Sita Gumpha is a must visit in Nasik. Apart from the blissful darshan the experience of crawling through an extremely tiny and dark passage lies beyond my words...

Even the local guide was not sure of the authenticity of the legend that Sita lived here in hiding ...he said even the scientists had not been able to date this cave accurately. It could be 100 or 2000 years old, it is certainly an old cave which has seen millions of visitors ... the rock is a smooth cold...

Very old and good ,but very tight for weighty people !What I liked is the quick darshan. What is inconvenient is the small entry as the name suggests, Gumpha!
