First the travel to Kolukumalai is itself an big attraction. Have you ever moved every part of your body, though you don't intend to, especially to the tunes of Tamil "Disco" songs for 1.5 hour one way journey through a carpet of tea gardens spread from bottom of the hill to the top of the hill. My two kids enjoyed... More

Visited tea estate here, its great visit. Staff is courteous to show the places and explain. Also great views enroute in the journey. However 15km round trip Bumpy rides on jeep would break your back

Kolokkumalai is around an hours drive by the off road from Suryanelli, Munnar. Only 4 wheeled Jeeps run on that route. Of-course Munnar is having a cold climate but once you reach Kolukkumalai it is like heaven. Full misty with fog often, clouds at a height where you can touch them, cool smell of the tea leaves from the estates... More

We had an interesting journey on our way to here as you have to travel by jeep over some really rocky terrain. The views are spectacular along the way though. The estate itself is also really scenic. Not sure the tour of the factory was all that great but the cuppa we got was delicious. Worth a trip for the... More

Nice experience around the highest orthodox tea plantation in the world. The trip to the tea plantation (about 2000 m above sea level) is an experience of its own. The plantation can only be reached by a 4-Wheel-Drive-Jeep. It takes about 1 hour to reach the top from the entrance to the property. The site offers beautiful view over the... More

This was one of my favorite excursions in Kerala, south India. Our hotle, the Spice Tree arranged for expert drivers and Indian-made Mahindra 4x4 jeeps to take us on a daylong excursion to Kolukkumalai Tea Estate. The countryside over which we bounced has to be some of the most beautiful on the globe. Green were the steep slopes carpeted in... More

Our driver arranged a jeep ride up the hillside to this the highest tea factory in Kerala. The ride was boneshaking but the factory visit was great. We were shown around individually by a member of staff with good English and we were encouraged to have a go at each of the stages of tea production. The experience here was... More

exorbitant entrance charges, just to show a film.not much to be seen inside.disliked---plantation & processing film is not a common man business for what they charge.
