You could easily spend a week here relaxing in the town, travelling to the other lakeside towns and villages and taking boat trips. It's a gem.

Lake Ohrid is just gorgeous. Beautiful sunsets. The water is so calm and crystal clear. Wonderful spot for a swim in the summer. Beaches galore. One of my favourite places.
Ohrid is one of the hidden gems of Europe. It isn't easy to get to (if you fly into Skopje it's a 3-4 hour car journey away) but once you get there it is so worth the journey. The lake is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING, one of the oldest in Europe (bordering Albania). If you have a car you can drive about...

This is a magnificent. Stunning in looks and character. Very tranquill but at the same time has ruggidness about it. The whole Ohrid waterfront is beautiful. The freshest water you could wish to swim in, some of the most hospitable people on this puny planet of ours, surrounded by mountains and forests, great food and even greater booze. Lake Ohrid, a 'right great place like' as Alexander The Great was once heard screaming from the back of a dragon?
Lake Ohrid, and the town of Ohrid, on its southern shore, surrounded by mountains, the Old Town climbing up the slopes towards the Castle, is a precious jewel of a town. The Romans didn't call it City of Light for no reason. The town itself, and the lakeside, are immaculately tended. I can't wait to come back in the summer.
But nothing here that would be on my 'cant be missed' list. Unless you're coming specifically for the lake of course.
