I would really recommend visiting this street to rest while you are in Tunxi, there is nothing absolutely special!!! but it is waaay better than staying in Tangkou in the middle of nowhere, this street is full of stores to buy souvenirs from huangshan, and also restaurants and bars, you can definitely have a good time here before heading to... preserved old streets are everywhere in China these days and this one lacks character. restaurant at entrance to street serves fairly good food More

If you have limited time and need to prioritise then I would head for one of the surrounding villages other than here. Yuliang (Shexian County) has an amazing old street (not so commercial) which runs along the river to a 1400year old dam. wonderful enough like going back to history or appearing in the old chinese ancient movies. this is a well kept street and clean. Last but not least, quite a numbers of shop selling good foods. More

This is a nice, clean shopping area that is in the location of he original shopping street going back hundreds of years. Lots of interesting looking buildings, great restaurants and nice shops. Mostly car-free, except for taxis. Nice place to wander at night and there is free wifi in several cafes. More

Due to transit times, most people cannot go straight to the Huangshan mountain the day they arrive. Tunxi Old Street is a perfect place to stay the night in order head out to Huangshan in the morning.
