Lovely place - not to easy to get to as it is next on one of the throughways in a very busy area of São Paulo. Building is beautiful and so are the works in it.

The monastery São Bento is known for its grandeur and fame in central Sao Paulo. It has over 400 years of history. The monastery always had great influence in the city and was built Benedictine monastery. He has an impressive instrument and which is played on Sundays at 8:30 am and at 10:00 am, and this with Gregorian chant. Monday... More

This is a place that is part of Sao Paulo history with antique building. You can go to take a breakfast with bread cooked in the restaurant inside the building. Good one.

Loved the painted ceiling in the chapel. We didnt see anything but the church. Not sure if there is a tour but nothing in English indicated there was.one. Some impressive statues and quite a holy atmosphere which they protect by not allowing photos (found that out a bit late!)

Lovely church with beautiful stained glass windows. Next to it, the Monastety. Visit as part of the historic city center tour.

I recommend seating down at one of the benches, and observing the many details the interior of this cathedral has to offer. Unfortunately, taking photos is not allowed.

We visited Mosteiro de Sao Bento a day after visiting the cathedral. We both agreed that Sao Bento was more beautiful and more interesting than the cathedral. Richly ornamented and painted - the walls, floors, ceilings - a work of art. This is a very active working church and you should recognize it as such - this is not a... More

The sanctuary was a peaceful place to sit for a few minutes and meditate, and the architecture was impressive. On Sunday mornings the monks perform Gregorian chants, but unfortunately we were there mid-week. I would have loved to experience a Sunday morning service, as others say it is magnificent. Once inside the building, just off the entrance to the left... More
