I found it nice as a walk, but it was too hot for a long journey. I'd rather have done it in another month. December is very hot in Rio.
OMG, i went to RIO twice this year, and Hiking this was on my list "to do" and I am so glad I did it on my second visit there (End of Sept. '13). I hired a Guide (if you are going to the TOP, I HIGHLY suggest using a guide for Safty reasons on a few levels....not just the... More
Just go and climb this amazing mountain peak but with experienced guide. Located in between Barra and Rio, the mountain range is one of the main attractions in Rio and is considered to be the highest Oceanside view in the world. Unlike other peaks, there is no cable car or bus to take you up. So be careful while climbing... More
After going up 2 hours and a bit, and a climbing part you'll have the best view ever in Rio. Better than the corcovado! If you're not a good climber go with a guide. It's safer using their ropes and equipment.
Great climb & view, 3,5 hrs climbing (with ropes on carrasqueira) and 2,5hrs down.. Need to be fit and not afraid of heights! Guide is absolutely recommended (R$120 with DNAventura) when you are not an experienced climber...
I went hiking there and it was great! the hiking is quite hard, because it is steep, but we saw the monkeys in the forest and the view from the top took my breath away! I went there with some friends, taking a bus from the center, direction Barra. We did not hire any guide, that costs a fortune. But... More

The views are astonishing, nothing more beautiful if you are lucky to catch a sunny day. My pulse was all the time very high, its quite dangerous... More
The Pedra da Gavea view is amazing! If you are brave enough if should jump from there with the Asa Delta team!! I went there only to apreciate the view!! There are some trails to do around it but you will need a local guide.
