This was right in front of our hotel, and a slightly less crowded alternative to Ipanema. A few days (weekends and holidays) they had Barracas (tents that rent chairs and umbrellas), while others you needed your own chair or towel. Good surf and fun to watch the surfers, or try yourself, there is a board rental place not too far... More

The most beautiful sunset in Rio de Janeiro. Unmissable! Also great to watch the beautiful people and surfers.

It is safe enough for you to walk from Copacabana Beach to Arpoador Beach. We visited it in the end of the day for sunset postalcard kind of picture. In our way back to Copacabana, we visited the local arts/crafts market. We were surprised with some sand art; we took a picture and soon someone approached us asking for money.

A Must See! One of the most beautiful beaches in the world and I have visited many countries. The view is divine especially at sunset.

In recent years, there has been a move of the in-crowd from the traditional Posto 9 to Arpoador. Some say because people grow older, som say because they long for something new. Anyway. The rocks and especially the big monoliths in the water has a special significance to most Cariocas. Perhaps because they are used for offerings to the Orixas... More

The views across the rocks are lovely and it is a much quieter beach than Ipanema. Defintely check it out at least once (posto 7)

We only had sun for one day so we chose this beach because its very quiet , the sand was clean and the sea clear. we found a spot and there wasn't an soul within 50ft .The copacobana just felt like too much going on in comparison. Great surf here aswell.

Great beach. Lots of surfing with possibilities of renting boards. Go there just before sunset and watch the darkness fall, the light is so gorgeous.

From the "Pedra do Arpoador" you'll have a view of the entire Ipanema beach and as the sun goes down with the "Morro dos dois Irmaos"in the background you won't believe the spectacular sunset views. It's free..but kind of the most unique theaters in the world.

Really nice sunset. Arpoador was safe even in the evening. The only disturbing experience was that most of the people tried to claim some reals whenever I made a photo.
