This old military fort is now a place for visitors, at the extreme point between copacabana and Ipanema beaches, with a museum and places to eat. The view from outdoor restaurant tables over the bay is fabulous. And the quality of food served is at level.

While in Rio, don't forget to visit This Fort. Even if history is not your focus of interest, the view is absolutely fantastic! It's safe, cery cheap entrance fee (around 3US or 1.5 for seniors-over 60). It has also the Colombo Cafe, where you can sit and enjoy a delicious eclair with tea or a capuccino while waiting for the... More

Take an early morning stroll to Forte de Copacabana. Entrance fee is modest (R$6) and you can enjoy a nice continental breakfast at one fo the two outdoor cafes while soaking up the panamoramic views of Copacabana. The "museum" itself is unimpressive but the location makes up for it.

Copacabana Fort is at the end of the bay and, from this point, gives a great view back to the other end of the bay with the splendid beach in between. It has field guns lined up along the wall and further into the bowels pf the place there is at least one huge gun that requires its heavy shells... More

If you interested in military stuff, then go. otherwise there are nice views and overview of Brazilian history. If you have seen most of Rio`s attractions, it`s good to spend one afternoon there. Price was 6RS

A really beautiful historical and artistic place to visit with a lovely view of Copacabana. A well preserved exhibit of the fort, with all the original components of how the fort was before. Lovely coffees and other art exhibits as well.

Nice place and area to indulge in a little culture in Copacabana. The fort has a military museum and a café for small dishes, coffee and juices. Great views and well-preserved history. The fort was completed in 1914, so it's quite new - and it will be one of the temporary venues for the 2016 Olympics - triathlon and marathon... More

I visited the military museum and Fort on a weekday and it was very quiet. Entrance fees are cheap and there are many things to see. One of the best military museums I've visited. You will find lots of great spots for taking pictures of the Copacabana beach. The cannons dome is simply impressive, once you get to the dome... More

Walking the length of Copacabana Beach was relaxing and enjoyable. Thousands of tanned fit bodies covered it making bird watching spectacular, but as I approached, the southern end things changed. Surfers replaced by fishing boats and the sold rock peninsula exhibited some extensive fortifications. Curious I walked into it and found a booth selling tickets for a very reasonable price,... More

We visited this site expecting to see something very boring and average and were pleasantly surprised. We stopped by just before sunset and got some awesome pictures of Copacabana Beach from the water. The museum provided some interesting information which we only looked at since we don't speak Portugese. There is a very nice cafe that one can visit and... More
