Best Beach in Rio, easiest way to get here is by car, or if you are so lucky to have a motor bike even better. Have seen the road being closed at 10am on a Sunday due to to many cars on the road, motor bike is the way to go

The place is really beautiful and far from the crowdy areas of Rio. You will need a car to get there and maybe, 1 hour to get there from lets say, Leblon (early in the morning). You will find only surfers and locals who look for peace and expetacular sights.

We took the surfer bus all the way to Painha beach! It is just so beautiful and secluded from the other beaches. What is even better, is that this is the place where the really good surfers go. In fact, the waves are so harsh, you have to be careful if you get into the water.

If you like surfing or simply enjoy the beach lifestyle, forget about copacabana and ipanema beach. Most tourists dont ever get to visit the beaches of the west coast of Rio. barra beach alone is 8 km long, so its longer than copacabana, ipanema and leblon beach all together. The west coast or Rio has alone 70 % of rios... More

Very clean, a surfing point. The beach is always organized. A little spot of heaven in Rio! Everyone should try. But hey! Get there early, theres a max ammount of people allowed to be in the beach.

This is a beautiful small beach near the Barra area, which really is a no miss! It is quite calm and clean (although I imagine it is quite different during peak days/season). The water is clean and clear. There is also a decent level of infrastructure as there is a good toilet/shower installation. Drinks and chairs/umbrellas are about the same... More

A Brazilian friend who lives in Ipanema took us to this beach and we loved it. We had to scramble out a bit over some rocks, but once we got there it was a gorgeous little beach. Well worth the drive out there.

Ipanema Beach is the place to be in Rio. Much better then Copacabana. Ipanema has a good mix of locals as well as tourists. The water temperature was perfect and the atmosphere tranquil.
