This is an easy beach to sit and spend a few hours if you don't mind crowds. Ordering a drink will get you some chairs and an umbrella and usually there's no pressure to keep buying more drinks. Lots of people watching, wading in the water and seeing an occasional tour boat go by. A fine relaxing afternoon for Buzios.

Nice long beach and great place to spend half day here. Easy to reach by water taxi from Osdis beach if you do not stay at one of the hotels situated next to J F beach

It´s a small crawded beach, always full of sunshades. Definitely, there are better beaches around Buzios

We visited a few beaches in Buzios. They all get packed with people quickly. Joao Fernandinho was not the closest to us, but because it is small we took a chance to walk there in hope of less people and no regrets. The beach is not big and if you are there by 11 am there is plenty of space.... More

There is practically no beach, it is packed with people and there is virtually no sand or room on the sand for you to lie down. The water is on the warm side, I'll grant you that, but because so many people eat there it was dirty. We were there three times because some members of our family were staying... More

Make sure to walk down the beach and walk along the rocks out to where the boats park - great swimming in BLUE water. The restaurants there give you a free set of chairs and umbrella's as long as you grab a snack and drinks from them. Fun! (felt very LOCAL - not touristy)

We arrived in Buzios for a 1 day cruise stop. We went to Joao Fernandes beach. This beach is rather narrow from the water to the back of the beach which ends at a stone wall separating the beach from a road (not a busy road). The beach is packed with restaurants that set up chairs, small table and umbrellas.... More
