If you're interested in engineering then you'll love this tour. The dam is quite a marvel, and the technical tour that goes inside and visits the turbines and control room is well worth it.

The lights show at 8pm on the weekends takes about one hour with the bus ride. You can't see much on the bus and the light show is only a few minutes long and very anticlimactic. It takes forever to get to the dam if you don't have a rental car and take the bus. For R14 it wasn't worth...

After hearing that until recently (Chinese newest dam) this was the world'd biggest man made power plant, watching the introductory video and then going for a bus tour around, I left highly impressed. The area the plant is on is huge but I especially liked the fact that people responsible for it are trying to do a lot for the...

This very well guided tour will give you a complete vision of what is being made to reduce de impact of the dam and is an example for the other dams in the worls, specially the fish "scale" that runs over 10 km and is as far the only way to allow fish to go up the river for reproduction....

This hydro plant is so huge and the power supply generated by the supply of water stored in the Lake is so large it is unreal and unbelievable to comprehend.
The dam is very interesting and takes about 2 hours to see all of it with the tour and movie about how it was built. The facts and figures about the water in the reservoir behind the dam will astound you!
I'd suggest you take at least the special tour so that you get a glimps of inside of the hydro-plant. Not cheap but worth a visit. Book you tickets in advance.
We had a spare day before leaving Foz so decided to visit the dam. The journey to the Dam on the local bus was easy and it drops you at the visitor centre. We did the basic tour which involves a short film (not in English as advertised) followed by a bus tour. The guide on the bus asked what...
