You have to walk a bit (up a hill), but the view is fantastic! There is a cafeteria there, but don't expect too much. Refreshments, simple bite, coffe, and that's it.
My favorite way to get to the convent is to drive to the base, leave the car and walk up. Walking up the path gives you the opportunity to see the giant Carangajeira spiders and monkeys (not that one is lucky enough to get a glimpse every time).
