I always love to go to Salvador, there are my origins.
The warm weather, cooking, charisma and friendliness of the people always charm who goes for Salvador, especially to leisure.
But is always better to be careful with your cellphones, camera, jewels, keep dressed in the simplest way possible, avoid desert places (is better to walk in groups) and walk...

this is the centre .. lots of history here and you can actually feel it when u walk trough the streets ..multicoloured .. music and capoeira shows everyday...a good chance to see teh true colours of bahia !!
The pastel coloured buildings are unreal, we popped into several churches through our walk through Pelourinho, all the different people playing music through the streets gives it a really cool vibe, there are lots of souvenir shops too. Must visit while in Salvador!
Very quaint and easy to walk for shopping, eating, drinking, and observing the local culture. The cobblestone streets and festive vibe of the community were both enjoyable. Watching Geronimo perform on Tues night was a special treat.
Amazing how a place of terror for West Africans and their descendants in Brazil is now the cultural site and epicenter of African heritage in the country. Pelourinho has soul, axé oozes everywhere surrounding the colonial architecture and cobblestone streets. A lot of nice shops and restaurants line the streets. Don't be surprised to see capoeiristas practicing their craft along...

Old architeture, if you love it thats the place. But the rest just isnt good, pickpockets all around, no police at all and prices skyhigh... Wont recommend it even for my enemy.
As I mentioned in the title architecture is very beautiful, but I did not feel safe there. Actually I did not feel safe anywhere in Salvador (shoulder I live in Rio de Janeiro!). But worth it, just be careful of pickpockets.
I loved the colourful buildings, the beautiful architecture, the churches and old narrow streets and of course the view over the ocean. And a nights you have the drumming groups walking through the street and people dance along. I would love to come again and hopefully stay a bit longer!
Fun place to spend your day or night, lots of restaurants, handcraft shops, museums, churches, felt safe all the time...too hot during the day though, so wear sunscreen and a hat!
